Rudham Ward
These murals have been created in the newly refurbished Rudham Ward at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King's Lynn. Throughout 3 rooms in the ward, we created murals that create both fun and calming environments for all the young people and their families who will be using the spaces.
Through consultations and creative discussions, these murals were co-designed with the wonderful play-specialists who work throughout the hospital. The play room features a helter-skelter tree, foxes on swings, a squirrel in a treehouse and a swinging squirrel. The aim was to create fun and playful scenes for the children to be able to interact and connect with. Next was the Teen Quiet Room - imagery used here was chosen to symbolise a 'Tree of Life' and the colours chosen came from a painting that was donated to the ward which will sit alongside this mural. The final room was the Treatment Room - a space where many serious conversations and procedures occur and was therefore co-designed to be as calming as possible; a forest of silver birch trees, leaves cascading gently down from the ceiling to fill the room.
